Hi, I'm Rosa
Welcome to Simple Platter, where food is never complicated, but it's always made with love.
Finding Purpose in the Routine
My earliest memory of cooking didn’t happen in my grandmother’s kitchen—it happened in a tiny apartment where the lights flickered every time I used the blender. I was nine, determined to make my first “real” recipe: a chocolate cake from an old magazine.
Of course, the flour exploded everywhere, covering the counter, the floor, and me. My mom walked in and smiled: “If your hands don’t get messy, you’re not really learning to cook.”
That cake wasn’t perfect, but we ate it with pride. That’s when I realized cooking isn’t about perfection—it’s about creating, experimenting, and finding joy in the process.
Years later, after school and work took over, I realized I had lost that joy. Meals became just another task. So I started small: one homemade meal a week. Then two. Slowly, I found myself enjoying the chopping, stirring, and the comforting smells filling the kitchen. Cooking became my anchor in the chaos of everyday life.

Building Simple Platter
I started Simple Platter as a way to bring that same sense of joy and simplicity to others. Every recipe here is tested in my actual kitchen with ingredients you can find at any grocery store—no exotic oils, no complicated gadgets.
The blog is about practical, real-life cooking: meals that respect your time, use ingredients you have, and still feel special. Recipes that you can enjoy making, whether it’s a quiet dinner alone or a meal shared with friends and family.
My Background & Approach
I grew up in a family where food was always about connection. I spent my twenties balancing school, work, and life, learning from my grandmother, my mom, and my own kitchen experiments.
Every recipe on Simple Platter is tried and tested in real life. If it’s too complicated, I simplify it. If it requires ingredients you can’t easily find, I adjust it. Mistakes happen, and I share them openly—because cooking should be forgiving, not stressful.
What You'll Find Here
Recipes that respect your time – Because most of us don't have all day to spend in the kitchen, and that's okay
Real stories and real mistakes – I've burned things, over-salted things, and completely forgotten ingredients. I'll tell you about all of it
Food that brings people together – Whether it's a quiet dinner for one or a table full of family, these recipes are meant to be shared (even if you're just sharing with yourself)
Simple ingredients, big flavors – You don't need fancy to make something delicious
What I Believe
Cooking is a gift you give yourself. You don’t need perfection or fancy ingredients to create something meaningful. Store-bought pasta is fine. Burnt garlic happens to everyone. The best meals are the ones you actually sit down and enjoy.
I believe anyone can cook wonderful food with confidence. You just need approachable recipes, a little guidance, and the freedom to experiment.
Let’s Stay Connected
Simple Platter is more than a blog—it’s a community. A space where substitutions are encouraged, questions are welcome, and cooking is about connection, not comparison.
Whether you’re here to learn, try something new, or just bring a little warmth to your kitchen, I’m so glad you’re here.
