Salad Ingredients

  • 3 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ⅓ cup shallots, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup bocconcini
  • 20 basil leaves, chopped chiffonade

Dressing

  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon pepper, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine Salad Ingredients: Place the halved cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced shallots, bocconcini, and half of the chopped basil leaves into a large serving bowl.
  2. Prepare the Dressing: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper until emulsified and well combined.
  3. Dress the Salad: Pour the prepared dressing over the ingredients in the large bowl and toss gently but thoroughly to ensure everything is evenly coated.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the remaining chopped basil leaves over the top of the salad as a fresh garnish. Serve immediately to enjoy the salad at its best.

Notes

  • Use fresh cherry tomatoes for the best flavor and texture.
  • Chiffonade refers to thinly slicing the basil leaves into fine ribbons.
  • Bocconcini can be substituted with fresh mozzarella pearls if needed.
  • The salad is best served fresh but can be chilled for up to 1 hour before serving.
  • Adjust salt and pepper to taste based on your preference.
