This quick and easy hummus recipe delivers creamy, flavorful hummus in just 3 minutes using canned chickpeas and a high-powered blender. Perfect for a healthy snack or appetizer, it combines tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, and salt to create a classic Middle Eastern dip garnished with paprika and fresh parsley.

Ingredients

Hummus Ingredients

  • 2 (15-ounce) cans chickpeas, drained with liquid reserved
  • ⅓ cup chickpea liquid (aquafaba), or more as needed
  • ½ cup tahini
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

For Garnish

  • Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
  • Paprika, for sprinkling
  • Freshly chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Blender: Add the drained chickpeas, reserved chickpea liquid, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic cloves, cumin, and kosher salt into a high-powered blender. Secure the lid tightly and remove the lid cap to insert the tamper for better blending.
  2. Blend the Mixture: Turn the blender on high speed for about 30 seconds or longer if you prefer a creamier hummus. Use the tamper to press the ingredients down into the blades to achieve an even blend.
  3. Adjust Consistency: If the hummus is too thick, gradually add more chickpea liquid (aquafaba) while blending until you reach your desired creamy texture.
  4. Serve: Transfer the hummus to a small serving bowl. Garnish generously with a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil, a sprinkle of paprika, and freshly chopped parsley for color and flavor.

Notes

  • For extra smooth hummus, remove chickpea skins before blending.
  • The reserved chickpea liquid (aquafaba) helps achieve creamy texture without adding oil.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • This recipe is naturally vegan and gluten free.
