This Spooky Snack Mix is a deliciously sweet and crunchy treat perfect for Halloween or themed parties. Combining a mix of cereals, pretzels, and a buttery brown sugar glaze baked to crispy perfection, then tossed with festive candies like Reese's Pieces, candy corn, and candy pumpkins for a fun seasonal twist.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups Chex cereal (flavor of choice)
  • 2 cups Bugles (original or caramel flavor)
  • 2 cups pretzels (regular or twists)

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Candies

  • 1 cup Reese's Pieces
  • 1/2 cup candy corn
  • 1/2 cup candy pumpkins
  • 1/2 cup mint M&M's
  • 1/4 cup candy eyeballs

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 250°F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Chex cereal, Bugles, and pretzels, ensuring they're evenly distributed.
  3. Prepare Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and slightly runny for easy pouring.
  4. Combine Mixture: Slowly pour the butter-sugar mixture over the cereal mix while stirring continuously to coat every piece thoroughly.
  5. Bake Snack Mix: Spread the coated mixture evenly on the prepared cookie sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, stirring once halfway through to ensure even baking. Remove and let cool completely.
  6. Add Candies and Serve: Transfer the baked mixture into a large bowl and fold in the Reese's Pieces, candy corn, candy pumpkins, mint M&M's, and candy eyeballs. Mix well and serve immediately or store for later enjoyment.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the mixture cools completely before adding candies to prevent melting.
  • Customize your snack mix by using different cereal flavors or seasonal candies according to your preference.
  • Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to a week.
  • Stirring halfway through baking prevents burning and promotes even caramelization of the glaze.
