These Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs are a sophisticated twist on a classic appetizer, combining creamy, tangy yolk filling with delicate smoked salmon and bright dill accents. Perfect for brunches, parties, or elegant gatherings, they deliver a rich, flavorful bite in a simple, no-fuss preparation.

Ingredients

Eggs and Filling

  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped shallot
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped dill
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garnish

  • 2 ounces smoked salmon
  • 1 tablespoon capers
  • Extra dill for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs: Bring a pot of water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low so that the water is no longer boiling. Using a skimmer, gently place the eggs into the water. Increase the heat back to high and cook the eggs for 14 minutes to ensure they are fully hard-boiled.
  2. Chill and slice the eggs: Prepare an ice water bath while the eggs are cooking. After 14 minutes, transfer the eggs to the ice bath to cool completely. Once chilled, peel the eggs and slice each in half lengthwise. Separate the yolks into a small bowl and arrange the egg whites on a serving plate.
  3. Prepare the filling: Add the yolks, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, finely chopped shallot, dill, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Scoop and garnish: Spoon the yolk mixture back into the hollowed halves of the egg whites. Top each deviled egg with a small piece of smoked salmon, a sprinkle of capers, and a garnish of fresh dill for a burst of flavor and visual appeal.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh eggs and ensure they’re fully chilled before peeling to prevent breaking.
  • Adjust the amount of smoked salmon and capers according to taste preferences for saltiness and smokiness.
  • You can prepare the eggs a day ahead and refrigerate to save time for events or gatherings.
  • Try substituting mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter filling option.
