These Roasted Honey Buffalo Chicken Wings are crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with sweet honey and spicy buffalo sauce. Roasted in the oven for a healthier twist on the classic fried wing, they are coated in a smoky, garlicky spice mix and finished with a buttery honey buffalo glaze. Garnished with fresh green onions and parsley, they’re ideal for game day or any casual gathering, served with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.

Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 3 lbs chicken wings
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp granulated garlic
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt

Honey Buffalo Sauce

  • 1 (12 oz) bottle mild or hot buffalo sauce
  • ¼ cup honey, plus more to drizzle
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Garnish & Serving

  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • Ranch or blue cheese dressing, for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Wings: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chicken wings with olive oil, smoked paprika, granulated garlic, and kosher salt. Toss thoroughly to ensure each wing is evenly coated. Let the wings marinate at room temperature for 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  2. Preheat and Prepare Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a half sheet pan with parchment paper and place a baking rack on top. Arrange the marinated wings in a single, even layer on the rack to promote air circulation and crispness.
  3. Roast Wings at High Heat: Place the wings in the preheated oven and roast for 15 minutes at 450°F. This initial high heat helps start the crisping process on the skin.
  4. Reduce Heat and Continue Baking: Lower the oven temperature to 400°F (204°C) and bake the wings for an additional 15-20 minutes. Bake until the wings are golden brown and cooked through, ensuring a crispy exterior and tender interior.
  5. Prepare Honey Buffalo Sauce: While the wings are roasting, combine the buffalo sauce, honey, butter, and apple cider vinegar in a saucepan over low heat. Heat gently, whisking continuously until the butter is fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and set aside.
  6. Toss Wings in Sauce and Garnish: Once the wings are out of the oven, immediately toss them with the prepared honey buffalo sauce, sliced green onions, and chopped parsley until well coated and fragrant.
  7. Serve: Serve the wings hot with an extra drizzle of honey on top for added sweetness, accompanied by ranch or blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra crispy wings, pat the wings dry before marinating.
  • Adjust the level of heat by choosing mild or hot buffalo sauce depending on your preference.
  • Allow wings to rest for a few minutes after roasting to retain juiciness.
  • Honey drizzle adds a nice balance of sweetness to the spicy sauce, but you can omit it if preferred.
  • Use fresh herbs for garnish to enhance flavor and presentation.
