Ingredients

Salmon Bites

  • 1 pound salmon, skin removed, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Maple Glaze Sauce

  • ¼ cup (½ stick / 57 g) unsalted butter
  • ½ cup (160 g) maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ¼ cup water

Garnish and Serving

  • Green onions, chopped, for garnish
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C) to ensure it’s ready for cooking the salmon bites.
  2. Prepare Seasoning Mix: In a large bowl, mix olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful seasoning blend.
  3. Coat Salmon Bites: Add the cubed salmon to the bowl with the seasoning mix and gently toss to ensure each piece is evenly coated.
  4. Air Fry the Salmon: Place the seasoned salmon bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Depending on your air fryer size, cook in batches if needed. Air fry for 7 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 140-145°F.
  5. Rest the Salmon: Transfer the cooked salmon bites to a plate and tent loosely with foil to keep warm while preparing the glaze sauce.
  6. Make Maple Glaze Sauce: In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, combine unsalted butter, maple syrup, soy sauce, minced garlic, white wine vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine the ingredients thoroughly.
  7. Simmer the Sauce: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium. Add water and simmer the sauce for 6 to 8 minutes until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Add more water if needed to loosen the sauce.
  8. Toss Salmon in Sauce: Add the air-fried salmon bites to the skillet and gently toss to coat them evenly in the maple glaze sauce.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Garnish the glazed salmon bites with chopped green onions and serve immediately over cooked white rice for a complete and satisfying meal.

Notes

  • To ensure even cooking, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to your heat preference, reducing or omitting for a milder glaze.
  • Use fresh garlic minced finely for the best flavor.
  • Check the internal temperature of salmon using a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking.
  • Leftover salmon bites can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days but are best enjoyed fresh.
