Ingredients

Seafood

  • 4 lobster tails (10 oz each, or adjust time for other sizes)

Butter Mixture

  • 1/4 cup salted butter (melted; 1/2 stick)
  • 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Thaw Lobster Tails: If using frozen lobster tails, thaw them overnight in the refrigerator or place them in a sealed bag and submerge in cold water for about 30 minutes until fully thawed.
  2. Preheat Oven Broiler: Set your oven to Broil at 500°F (260°C). Adjust the oven rack so that the lobster tails will be positioned 4 to 5 inches from the broiler for optimal cooking.
  3. Butterfly the Lobster Tails: Using kitchen shears, cut lengthwise down the center of the lobster shell from the end opposite the tail fins toward the tail, being careful not to cut through the bottom shell. Gently spread open the shell and pull the lobster meat upward, separating it from the bottom shell but leaving it attached at the tail end. Push the shell underneath and place the meat on top of the shell, arranging the tails on a baking sheet.
  4. Prepare Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, crushed garlic, lemon juice, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper until well combined.
  5. Brush Lobster Tails: Generously brush the butter mixture over the exposed lobster meat, coating it thoroughly for maximum flavor.
  6. Broil Lobster Tails: Place the baking sheet under the broiler and cook the lobster tails until the meat turns opaque and lightly browned. Broil for approximately 1 minute per ounce of lobster tail (e.g., 10 minutes for 10-ounce tails).
  7. Serve: Remove from oven, let rest briefly, and serve immediately with your choice of sides or a fresh wedge of lemon.

Notes

  • Ensure lobster tails are thawed completely before cooking for even broiling.
  • Adjust broiling time according to lobster tail size to avoid overcooking or undercooking.
  • Use kitchen shears carefully to avoid damaging the lobster meat.
  • For extra flavor, you can add fresh herbs like parsley or dill to the butter mixture.
  • Serve with melted butter on the side for dipping if desired.
