This homemade blueberry butter is a luscious, spreadable blend of soft butter, fresh blueberry sauce, and natural sweeteners, perfect for enhancing your morning toast, muffins, or pancakes. Made with simple ingredients and whipped until light and fluffy, this blueberry butter offers a delicious twist on a classic favorite.

Ingredients

Blueberry Sauce

  • 1/3 cup prepared blueberry sauce (cooled)

Butter Mixture

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 vanilla bean (or 1–2 teaspoons vanilla extract)
  • 1 pinch kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Make the sauce: Prepare the blueberry sauce ahead of time and set aside 1/3 cup to cool to room temperature. You can also use leftover blueberry sauce if available.
  2. Beat butter and milk: In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the softened unsalted butter and milk. Beat on low speed just until they are incorporated together.
  3. Whip until fluffy: Increase the mixer speed to medium-high and beat the mixture for 5 minutes, scraping down the sides and bottom of the bowl a couple of times during the process. The butter mixture should become light and fluffy.
  4. Add remaining ingredients: Add the cooled blueberry sauce, maple syrup, vanilla bean or extract, and a pinch of kosher salt to the whipped butter mixture. Beat on low speed just until all ingredients are well combined.
  5. Serve or refrigerate: Enjoy the blueberry butter immediately or transfer it to a container and refrigerate for later use.
  6. Soften before serving: If refrigerated, the blueberry butter will firm up. Remove it from the refrigerator 20 to 30 minutes before serving to allow it to soften to room temperature for easy spreading.

Notes

  • You can prepare the blueberry sauce in advance or use leftover sauce to save time.
  • Use unsalted butter to better control the saltiness of the spread.
  • A vanilla bean adds a richer flavor, but vanilla extract works well as a convenient substitute.
  • If refrigerated, let the butter sit at room temperature before serving to restore its spreadable texture.
