Baked to perfection with a golden bubbly cheese crust, this carnival-style pizza serves 12 and is perfect for pickle lovers looking to try something adventurous and delicious.

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 1 lb (12 inch) pizza dough (* See NOTES)

Garlic Dill Pizza Sauce

  • 1 cup Alfredo sauce (I use Classico, but any brand works)
  • 1 tablespoon dill weed (fresh or dried; if fresh, use 1 1/2 - 2 tbsp)
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Toppings

  • 6 whole dill pickles (cut into smaller rounds)
  • 3 1/2 cups pizza mozzarella (light mozzarella cheese recommended)
  • Parmesan cheese (for garnish)
  • Additional dill pickles or dill weed (for garnish, as desired)

Instructions

  1. Pizza Dough Preparation: Prepare the pizza dough according to the package instructions or your preferred method. Ensure the dough is stretched or rolled out to fit a 12-inch pizza pan.
  2. Make Garlic Dill Pizza Sauce: In a bowl, combine Alfredo sauce, dill weed, minced garlic, and onion powder. Whisk everything together until well blended and aromatic.
  3. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 12-inch pizza pan with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  4. Assemble the Pizza: Place the prepared pizza dough onto the greased pan. Evenly spread the garlic dill sauce over the dough. Arrange the dill pickle slices on top, then sprinkle the light mozzarella cheese generously over everything.
  5. Bake the Pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bottom of the crust is lightly browned.
  6. Broil for Golden Finish: After baking, increase the oven temperature to 500°F (260°C) and set to broil. Broil the pizza for 2-3 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown to your liking.
  7. Slice and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Cut into 12 slices. The pizza can be enjoyed hot or cold.
  8. Garnish: Sprinkle parmesan cheese and add extra dill weed or additional dill pickles as desired for garnish before serving.

Notes

  • For the pizza dough, you can use store-bought or homemade dough. If homemade, ensure it’s rested and properly proofed for best results.
  • If using fresh dill weed instead of dried, increase the quantity to about 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons to maintain the flavor intensity.
  • Watch the pizza carefully during broiling to prevent the cheese from burning.
  • Light mozzarella cheese helps reduce fat content without sacrificing melt and stretch.
  • This pizza pairs well with a crisp green salad to complement the tangy pickle flavor.
