These Crispy Baked Chicken Wings are a delicious, easy-to-make appetizer or snack perfect for any occasion. Coated with a buttery blend of garlic, paprika, and seasoning, then baked to golden perfection, these wings deliver a crispy skin without frying. They’re ideal for game day, parties, or a flavorful dinner addition.

Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 3 pounds chicken wings, split with tips removed

Seasoning & Coating

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons Diamond Crystal kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (or smoked paprika)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare two rimmed baking sheets by lining them with aluminum foil. Fit each sheet with a wire rack, or alternatively, use parchment paper-lined baking sheets without racks if preferred.
  2. Coat the Wings: In a large mixing bowl, toss the chicken wings with the melted butter until evenly coated. Then arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared racks or baking sheets, ensuring they do not touch to promote even crisping.
  3. Season the Wings: Sprinkle the wings evenly with kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika, ensuring every wing is well-seasoned for maximum flavor.
  4. Bake the Wings: Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake the wings for approximately 30-40 minutes, or until fully cooked and the skin turns a deep golden brown with a crispy texture.
  5. Optional Extra Crisping: For even crispier skin, reduce the oven temperature to 170°F (77°C) after the initial bake, and keep the wings in the oven for an additional 30-60 minutes. This slow drying step enhances crispiness without overcooking.
  6. Serve: Remove the wings from the oven and serve immediately. They pair wonderfully with classic blue cheese or ranch dressing for dipping.

Notes

  • Using wire racks allows for air circulation and crispier skin but is optional; baking directly on foil or parchment works as well.
  • If you prefer spicier wings, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the seasoning mix.
  • Make sure to remove the wing tips for more even cooking and easier eating.
  • Internal temperature should reach 165°F to ensure the wings are safely cooked.
