Ingredients

Fries

  • 1 bag (28 ounces) frozen steak fries
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning, divided
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

Cheese

  • 1 cup (113 g) Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup (113 g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Creamy Sauce

  • ¼ cup (55 g) mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce, plus more for drizzling
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Garnish

  • Chives, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to the temperature specified on the frozen steak fries package. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Fries: In a large bowl, toss the frozen steak fries with 1 tablespoon of the Cajun seasoning to evenly coat them. Spread the fries out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Bake Fries: Bake the seasoned fries according to package instructions, adding 5 to 10 extra minutes if you prefer them extra crispy and golden.
  4. Cook Chicken: While the fries bake, heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the bite-sized chicken pieces and season them with the remaining 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning. Cook the chicken, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through to an internal temperature of 165°F (about 6-8 minutes). Remove from heat.
  5. Make Creamy Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, whole milk, hot sauce, and garlic powder until smooth. Set aside.
  6. Top Fries: When the fries are golden and crispy, take them out of the oven. Evenly layer the cooked Cajun chicken pieces over the fries, then sprinkle shredded Monterey Jack and sharp cheddar cheeses on top.
  7. Melt Cheese: Return the loaded fries to the oven and bake for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese has melted completely and is bubbly.
  8. Add Sauce and Garnish: Remove from oven and drizzle the creamy hot sauce over the cheesy loaded fries. Garnish with chopped chives and add a few extra dashes of hot sauce if desired.
  9. Serve: Serve the Cajun Chicken Loaded Fries immediately while hot and melty for the best taste experience.

Notes

  • For extra crispy fries, extend the baking time by 5 to 10 minutes according to preference.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of hot sauce in the creamy sauce for more or less spice.
  • Use parchment paper or foil on the baking sheet to make cleanup easier.
  • Ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F to guarantee it is safely cooked.
  • Leftover loaded fries can be reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
